What hair salons need from a website
Many people find a salon by where it is, then check a couple of things before they book: when you are open, and roughly what it will cost. The salon starting point puts your address and your week of opening hours on the first screen, with Get directions and Book beside Call.
It lists your services with prices, so fewer people need to ring to ask what a cut costs, and the Book button opens the booking page you already pay for rather than another system to keep in step.
Already written for hair salons
The page starts with these, under the heading "Services". You can rename them, rewrite them or add your own, up to twelve in all.
- Cut and stylefrom $65
- A consultation, wash, cut and finish. Say how you wear it day to day and we cut for that, not for the chair.
- Men's and short cutsfrom $40
- Clipper and scissor cuts, beard trims and a tidy of the neckline. In and out in half an hour if that is what you need.
- Colourfrom $120
- Full head, regrowth, foils, balayage and toners. A strand test first for anything new, and a plan for keeping it up.
- Blow wave and stylingfrom $45
- A wash and blow wave, or an up-do for an event. Bring a photo and we will tell you straight whether your hair will do it.
- Kids' cutsfrom $25
- Quick, kind and quiet. Under twelves, with a parent in the chair beside them if that helps.
- Treatmentsfrom $50
- Keratin smoothing, deep conditioning and scalp treatments, on their own or added to a cut.
The prices are examples, and every one is optional. A full price list or menu can go up as a PDF beside them.
Built for how hair salons work
The shop from across the street
A salon starts on Awning: your address largest, the week drawn as opening hours with today marked, and whether you are open right now.
Prices, exact or from
Each service can show an exact price or a from price: "Cut and style from $65". Have a full price list already? Upload it as a PDF and the site links to it under the services.
Book where you already book
Point Book an appointment at your online booking page, or let it start an email with the request written. Either way the booking lands where you already look.
Your face, if you want it
Room for one photo of a person, usually the owner, beside the About text. Clients often choose a hairdresser by the person.
Licences and registrations
Hairdressing has no public register to link, so the list carries what you hold: the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 4) is there to start with, and your NZBN beside it. Change or add to either.

What it costs
It costs nothing to build, or to take as a folder. It is $300 to put it live with a domain in your name, hosting and the first year looked after, then $99 a year, with no monthly platform fee and no software to keep updated. Changes are yours to make, at no cost: your link opens the site in the builder, and you put it live when you are ready. Nothing is taken until the site is in front of you and we are ready to go.
Have a logo and colours already? Use them in the builder. For your own fonts, a layout made around your brand, or more than one page, talk to us about a site built on your branding.
Where a hair salon starts
It starts on Awning. Editorial and Portrait suit hair salons too, and every template is one tap away while you build.
Questions from hair salons
- Can people book through the site?
- The site sends them to the booking page you already use, with one tap. It does not run bookings itself, so there is nothing new to manage.
- Can I show my full price list?
- Yes, two ways at once if you like. List up to twelve services with exact or from prices, and upload your full price list as a PDF; the site links to it as "Full price list".
- We take walk-ins too.
- The About text already ends "Walk-ins when we can; booking is safer", ready to change to how you work. The line under your hours, "Open now, closes 5pm", is worked out from the hours you set.
- There are three of us. Can the site show everyone?
- The site is the salon's, with room for one photo of a person. Name the team in the About text, and use the photo for the salon's face, or leave it out.
