Small business websites: for cafes
Websites for cafes.
A one-page site for a cafe people find on their phone, showing where you are, when you are open, what you serve, and how to order if you take orders.

Awning, the template a cafe starts on, with the words written for cafes.
What cafes need from a website
A lot of people choose a cafe on their phone, somewhere close by and soon. They usually want the address, your hours and a look at the menu. A page with those in one place, on your own web address, gives them that at a glance.
The cafe starting point puts your address and opening week on the first screen, heads the services "Menu", and shows prices to the cent. A Menu or Order online button sits beside Call, linked to what you already have.
Already written for cafes
The page starts with these, under the heading "Menu". You can rename them, rewrite them or add your own, up to twelve in all.
- Coffee$5.50
- Espresso, filter and the usual milks, made by people who care how it tastes. Bring your own cup and we take fifty cents off.
- Cabinet food$6
- Savoury scones, filled rolls, slices and salads, made here each morning and gone by mid-afternoon.
- Breakfast and brunch$16
- Eggs your way, the big breakfast, bircher and something seasonal, served until 2pm.
- Bread and baking to take home$8
- Sourdough, rye and fruit loaves, croissants and the weekend's tarts. Order a loaf ahead and we'll keep it for you.
- Cakes to order$55
- Birthday cakes, slabs for the office and a tray of baking for a meeting, with two days' notice.
The prices are examples, and every one is optional. A full price list or menu can go up as a PDF beside them.
Built for how cafes work
A menu, with real prices
List what you sell with exact prices, "Coffee $5.50", or from prices for the cabinet. On a cafe the menu comes before the licences, since that is usually what people are looking for.
Menu or Order online, beside Call
Link your full menu, wherever it lives, or upload it as a PDF. Take orders online already? Link that page, or your Uber Eats, DoorDash or Delivereasy page, and the button says Order online.
Whether you are open now
A cafe starts on Awning: your address largest, the week of opening hours drawn with today marked, Get directions, and a line that says whether you are open right now.
Headings in te reo Māori
One tick puts te reo beside the English on every heading: Tahua · Menu, Ngā hāora · Hours, Whakapā mai · Contact.
Licences and registrations
Food businesses have no public register to link here, so the list says what you hold. A registered food control plan is there to start with, and your NZBN beside it; edit either to match what you have.

What it costs
It costs nothing to build, or to take as a folder. It is $300 to put it live with a domain in your name, hosting and the first year looked after, then $99 a year, with no monthly platform fee and no software to keep updated. Changes are yours to make, at no cost: your link opens the site in the builder, and you put it live when you are ready. Nothing is taken until the site is in front of you and we are ready to go.
Have a logo and colours already? Use them in the builder. For your own fonts, a layout made around your brand, or more than one page, talk to us about a site built on your branding.
Where a cafe starts
It starts on Awning. Editorial and Portrait suit cafes too, and every template is one tap away while you build.
Questions from cafes
- Can I put my whole menu on it?
- List up to twelve items or sections with prices on the page itself, and link or upload the full menu as a PDF for everything else. The site links to it as "Full menu", and the Menu button opens it too.
- Do you do online ordering?
- The site does not take orders itself. If you already take them through your own page or a delivery app, the Order online button links straight to it.
- Can I show today's specials?
- Not on the page itself. The site shows what you entered and changes when a change is made, so it suits the menu you keep rather than what is on today. If you post specials somewhere else, such as Instagram, link the Menu button there and they stay current.
- Our hours change in winter.
- Hours are set by day, with closed days. A change to a live site is made for you, and most take fifteen minutes.
- We have no photos of our food yet.
- The templates come with pictures made for cafes from our library, so the site looks finished from the start. Swap in your own photos when you have them; a few good phone photos are enough.
Start your site.
The builder opens with the cafe or bakery starting point already chosen. No cost to use, no account, and nothing to pay until the site is in front of you.
