Small business websites: for builders
Websites for builders.
A one-page site for the builder or small crew whose next job comes from the last one, showing your licence, your work and your area, with a way to book a site visit.
Start a builder site
Patch, the template a builder starts on, with the words written for builders.
What builders need from a website
Choosing a builder is often a slow decision. People ask around, then look you up, and many are looking for two things: finished work like the job they have in mind, and a licence they can check. A page that shows both gives them something to go on before they ring.
The builder starting point carries your Licensed Building Practitioner number linked to the public register, your trade association membership, and room for a dozen photos of finished jobs.
Already written for builders
The page starts with these, under the heading "Services". You can rename them, rewrite them or add your own, up to twelve in all.
- Renovations and extensions
- Kitchens, bathrooms, extra rooms and whole-house renovations, including consent drawings and subtrades.
- Decks, fences and outdoor
- Timber and composite decks, fences, pergolas and retaining walls, built to last in the weather.
- Repairs and maintenance
- Weatherboard and cladding repairs, rotten joinery, leaks, and the small jobs other builders don't want.
- Healthy homes and insulation
- Insulation, ventilation and moisture work to meet Healthy Homes standards for rental properties.
The prices are examples, and every one is optional. A full price list or menu can go up as a PDF beside them.
Built for how builders work
Your LBP licence, checkable
Add your LBP number and the site links it to the public register, where a customer can see your licence class for themselves.
Photos of finished work
Up to twelve photos of your own jobs, picked several at once from your phone and resized before they upload. One photo shows large; two or more show as a set.
Book a site visit
The button starts an email asking for a site visit to talk through a job, with lines for the address and the times that suit. You reply with a time.
One good photo, laid large
A builder starts on Patch, led by the area you cover. Editorial is the next one along: one photograph laid large on a block of colour or timber, for the builder with one job worth showing off.
Licences and registrations
Your LBP number shows with a link to the public register. Registered Master Builders, New Zealand Certified Builders, Site Safe and your NZBN go in the same list; add the ones you hold and leave the rest out.

What it costs
It costs nothing to build, or to take as a folder. It is $300 to put it live with a domain in your name, hosting and the first year looked after, then $99 a year, with no monthly platform fee and no software to keep updated. Changes are yours to make, at no cost: your link opens the site in the builder, and you put it live when you are ready. Nothing is taken until the site is in front of you and we are ready to go.
Have a logo and colours already? Use them in the builder. For your own fonts, a layout made around your brand, or more than one page, talk to us about a site built on your branding.
Where a builder starts
It starts on Patch. Editorial and Portrait suit builders too, and every template is one tap away while you build.
Questions from builders
- Do I have to put prices on it?
- No. Prices are optional on each service. Leave them off, add a from figure, or write a note such as "Free measure and quote". Many builders quote each job.
- Will customers see my licence class?
- The site shows your LBP number and links to the public register, which shows your licence classes. That is the Board's record, so it stays up to date without you touching the site.
- I have no photos of my own yet.
- The templates come with pictures made for building work from our library, so the site looks finished from the start. Add your own as jobs finish; a photo from your phone is enough.
- Can I show healthy homes work separately?
- Healthy homes and insulation is already one of the starting services. Rename it, split it, or add new ones; you can list up to twelve.
