Tools and apps we make, and you can use
These are the things Train Effect makes and runs itself, in Wellington, each with a short account and a link to the thing itself. The work made for and with other people is on the work page.
What is here
- Small business websites
- A web tool that lets a sole trader or a small business build its own one-page website in the browser, in a few minutes and with no technical knowledge. Every site is set up for search from the start, and once it is finished the business can take the site away to put online itself, or have us put it live on its own domain and keep it up to date in the builder itself.
-
- Curious Kea
- Curious Kea is an interactive story for children from about seven, in which Kea has theories, Rock keeps records, and the player decides where they stand on one claim at a time and says why. It plays in the browser at no cost, in rounds of about five minutes, with no accounts and nothing collected, and its progress stays on the device.
-
- The brewing journal
- The journal holds every batch brewed since 2020 with its recipe, and each one is cross-linked to pages for its hops, yeast and fermentables, so a hop can be followed through every beer it went into. It has brew day sheets to print and a compare tool that sets a recipe beside the batches made from it.
-
- The brewing notebook
- A coil-bound A4 notebook for brew days, with your name and logo on the cover and a spread for every batch. You set it up in a builder that shows the finished book page by page as you go, and we print it and post it anywhere, or you download the whole book as a PDF.
-
- OpenBrew
- OpenBrew is software for running a homebrew competition judged to the BJCP guidelines, from setup and entries through check-in, flights, scoring and best of show to the published results. It has been running real competitions since July 2026, and the homebrew page sets it beside the club sites it shares a design with.
-
- 360 viewer
- A viewer for 360 panoramas that runs in the browser and never uploads the image, made for checking the stitch of a drone panorama with a client before it is delivered.
