Blue pill and in fermentation chamber.
Ferment at 18C for 10 days @ 5psi, then 20C for 4 days at 0psi.
Day 2: In 48 hours, gravity 1.034, -20pts.
Day 5: Dry hop 100g Superdelic at 9am. Gravity was 1.014, after agitation from the hops gravity read 1.017, and was back down to 1.014 by midday. Possibly add a few points change to the total for ABV estimate.
Stirred (without opening) – pill settled on 1.018 then down to final of 1.015. Seems a stir makes it sit/float slightly differently. Probably also related to a bit of yeast foam or hops that might stick to the pill.
Looking at the difference rather than amount, two lots of 3pts drop over the 10 days since dry hop, somewhere between 1.015 (5.12%) and 1.009 (5.91%)…
Split and estimated 1.012 as FG, 5.5%.
I had a bottle failure! A plastic 500ml with a cracked bottom; the crack was not leaking under normal pressure, so it was missed when cleaning and filling. Leaked once the bottle pressure came up for carbonation. Luckily all bottles were in a bucket, so no mess and easy clean. Approx 150ml remained in the broken bottle, so that was an early taster. It is possible this is from putting too much twist force when capping the bottle, by holding the base of the bottle and tightening it may have cracked the thick part.
